Abstract: Recent advances are expanding the power and flexibility of analog quantum platforms, opening new routes for both quantum simulation and quantum information science. In this talk, I will discuss how modest levels of control can be used to access key observables and dynamical regimes in strongly correlated fermionic systems, including settings with pairing, long-range interactions, and cooling. I will also describe how globally controlled analog platforms can nevertheless achieve universal quantum computation, and how optimal-control techniques can be used to engineer complex effective interactions and topological dynamics. Finally, I will outline recent progress toward approximate error correction tailored to analog quantum systems. Together, these developments point toward a broader view of analog quantum computing, in which large-scale quantum devices are not only simulators of specific models, but flexible computational resources whose capabilities can be systematically unlocked.
